Terri has ten years of association management experience, having held executive positions in both individual membership associations and certification boards. She is currently the CEO of the National Association of School Nurses. Terri has over 28 years of acute care nursing experience and spent 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry overseeing clinical trials. Terri also consults for nursing/healthcare associations and certification boards on issues related to competency, continuing competency, and the workforce.
Hinkley is keenly interested in the future of work and learning in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments, and their impact on professional associations and credentialing boards. During her doctoral program, she spent several years studying strategic thinking, strategic decision-making, and leadership intuition. She brings this deep expertise to develop and reimagine programs to meet the needs of the workforce.
Terri became Immediate Past President of the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) in July 2023, is a Director on the Boards of Directors for both the Institute of Credentialing Excellence (ICE) and the Otsuka Patient Assistance Fund (OPAF) and serves as an Advisory Board member for the Coalition for Nurse Well-Being. She received her RN from Centennial College, BScN from York University, an Executive MBA from Athabasca University, and an Ed.D. in the Executive Leadership (ELP) Human and Organizational Learning (HOL) Program from George Washington University. She is enrolled in a graduate program in Strategic Foresight at the University of Houston.
