Professionals continue to expand their skills after becoming certified. As their career journey evolves, they may transition into new roles and functions, including specialized areas of professional practice. Noting that specialty designations could be relevant to the emerging needs of both CFP® professionals and their clients, CFP Board of Standards initiated comprehensive research on the feasibility, market interest, partnership opportunities, and organizational readiness to pursue post-CFP® certification specialty designations.

CFP Board will share initial findings from its quantitative study and its product development process, as well as next steps in its pursuit of feasible post-CFP® specialty designations which will help CFP® professionals remain competitive, assure client retention, and enhance areas of expertise for their financial planning practice.
