Revisiting Recertification: Are Your Criteria Current?

Once recertification criteria for a credentialing program are established, it is not simply a matter of “set it and forget it.” This session will focus how organizations can and should periodically revisit their recertification philosophy, purpose and requirements, with the goal of ensuring that recertification program continues to meet the needs of practitioners and the public as professionals and professions evolve over time. The session will address events that may trigger the need to revisit criteria, as well as the processes, data and information that can be used to evaluate potential programmatic updates.

  • Discuss purpose and rationale for revisiting the recertification requirements for a credential
  • Identify triggering events that warrant reexamination of existing recertification criteria
  • Discuss why organizations might wish to provide multiple alternatives for meeting recertification criteria
