This session is intended to tell the story of AHIMA's micro-credentialing initiative, which by all measures has been a success. The goal of the session is to help other professional associations learn recommended practices for developing and implementing a micro-credential program. The session will focus on 1) defining what a micro-credential is and is not, 2) describing the business context and drivers that led AHIMA to implement such a program, 3) discussing the types of tools and partners needed to implement such a program, and 4) offer time for questions and answers with attendees.

Learning Objectives:

Describe how micro-credentials can fit within a professional associations' portfolio of certification and learning products.
Articulate a series of recommended practices for successful collaboration between a professional association and an exam development/delivery vendor.
Relate the case presented within the session to the participant organization's credentialing portfolio and vendor relationship(s).
