Sarah D. Schnabel, PhD, (she/her) has served on the assessment team at the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) since 2014. As the Director of Psychometrics and Assessment, she contributes expertise to exam development, administration, and scoring for several high-stakes certification examinations. She helped design and implement the ABO’s longitudinal assessment for continuing certification, Quarterly Questions. Additionally, she has served on committees with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) developing standards for certification assessment design. Dr. Schnabel earned a master’s degree in measurement, evaluation, statistics, and assessment in 2012, and doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) in 2018. Dr. Schnabel also serves as an adjunct instructor at the UIC, teaching a course on large-scale testing to graduate students.
