Digital Media and Marketing Specialist American Board of Emergency Medicine, United States
Organizations have heard the call to action to increase their focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and implement programs to advance DEI principles. Like many other strategic priorities, decisions on what to do and how to do it are often developed by executive leadership. Especially on matters of DEI, it is imperative to create intentional opportunities for diverse perspectives to provide feedback and input to pursue meaningful change, which should include employees at all levels of an organization. The American Board of Emergency Medicine will share their experience building a robust DEI strategic plan with input from across the organization. This session will highlight the methods used to collect feedback, to develop a set of shared priorities, and to implement an action plan to achieve a more inclusive environment. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is everyone’s responsibility; the work must permeate across all levels of an organization to foster a respectful and inclusive environment for everyone.
